Come with me to discover one of the most mysterious monuments of Delhi, the Bijay Mandal, even historians and archaeologists struggle to give it a precise connotation, outside the historical period that is known to date between the reign of Allauddin Khilji (second Sulatanate) and that of Muhammad Tughlaq (third Sultanate) first half of 14th century c.E. Ibn Battutha, the famous Moroccan explorer who spent some years in Delhi between 1334 and 1341, also described this place in his memoirs. Today little remains, in particular nothing of the famous palace of a thousand pillars, but the location of this building will surprise you, as well as the view from the top, one of the most interesting. But the surprises do not end here, once we leave, we will walk through the alleys that, in a few hundred meters, will lead us in front of the entrance stairway of a mosque that one would never expect to find in that area, especially for its size. in fact, Begumpur Masjid awaits you, another precious legacy of the 14th century, unfortunately not safeguarded, as it should be, but which absolutely deserves to be counted among our discoveries!
